The new multitasking feature, discovered in the Android 16 Developer Preview 2 reveals that Google plans to enhance multitasking in Android 16. This will benefit Galaxy smartphones and tablets through the upcoming One UI 8.0 update.

Currently, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold devices and tablets can manage three apps, but this new feature improves notification management and multitasking and allow users to run three apps simultaneously on tablets, side-by-side. Galaxy phone users can expect a quicker method for switching between two open app windows in split-screen mode.

Unlike Samsung’s older method, where two app windows appear too small to be practically useful, Android 16 would allow for a more functional layout. Users could toggle between apps with one app occupying 90% of the screen while the other takes up 10%.

As Google finalizes this feature, it could be rolled out across all Android devices. But it will take some time for Samsung to adapt these changes and include them in One UI 8
