AT&T and AST SpaceMobile Successfully Test LEO Satellite Video Call with Galaxy S22 Ultra
AT&T and AST SpaceMobile have successfully completed the second video call using cellular connectivity provided by low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites, featuring Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra. The press release from AT&T confirms that Samsung smartphones works properly with the satellite cellular network developed by the two companies.
In a related development, Verizon also announced the completion of its first video call using cellular network via satellite with AST SpaceMobile. However, details regarding the smartphone used in Verizon’s test were not disclosed. There is an expectation that Samsung phones will support this service as well.
Additionally, T-Mobile, in collaboration with Starlink, offers a similar satellite connectivity service. Samsung phones that are compatible with this technology includes:
- Galaxy A series
- Galaxy S21 and newer devices
- Galaxy Z Fold 3 and newer
- Galaxy Z Flip 3 and newer
- Galaxy X Cover 6 Pro.
