Uses have reported that they could open and work with Scrivener software after change the compatibility mode.

If the first method did not work and your PC is running on Windows 10 or 8 you can try this method to fix the Scrivener won’t open issue.

Then you can open the scrivener to check if the problem is solved.

03 – Run Windows troubleshooter

Windows operating systems comes with an inbuilt tool called “Troubleshooter” which can detect issues on certain programs and automatically fix them.

If there is a green mark next to error that means the troubleshooter has fixed that issue. Although you will see Apply fixes button if there is a manual permission is required.

After all done, you can open Scrivener and see if that worked.

04 – Download Older version of Scrivener

If Scrivener still won’t open, then you have to download and install an older version of this software.

The problem is that if you are using the latest Scrivener 3 it is not backward compatible. That means you won’t be able to work on your current projects on Scrivener 3 in an older version of Scrivener software.

But this won’t be a problem if you have a backup of your project. Because Scrivener creates old version of file whenever you save a project.

Therefore you have to get that backup file somewhere else before installing the older version. Here is how to do that and install an older version of Scrivener.

  1. Go to Users\AppData\Local\LiteratureAndLatte\Scrivener\Backups
