Check the Charger and Cable
Samsung’s fast charging and superfast charging features require an original Samsung charger and cable. Third-party chargers or cables may not support the required power output or fast charging standards.
- Over time, chargers and cables can wear out. This will cause to reduce their performance (transfer power efficiently).
- A typical charger or cable can last a few years with proper care. However, frequent bending, pulling, or exposure to extreme conditions can shorten their lifespan.
A damaged charger or cable can disrupt fast charging.
- Check the charger for signs of damage, such as burnt marks, water exposure, or bent pins.
- Examine the cable for fraying, cuts, or loose connectors.
To confirm if the issue is with your charger or cable, try using another Samsung-certified charger and cable. If the phone fast charges, replace the faulty components.
Check the Power Outlet
A faulty power outlet may not supply enough electricity to the charger. Also, avoid Using Extension Cords, directly plug the charger into the wall outlet for optimal performance.
Here is how to verify your charging outlet:
- Plug another device into the same outlet to check if it works properly.
- Try using a different outlet to rule out the possibility of a power issue.
Ensure Fast Charging/Superfast Charging is Enabled
- Fast Charging: Delivers a higher power output (typically 15W-25W) than standard charging.
- Superfast Charging: Uses Samsung’s PD charging technology and deliver even more power (up to 45W with compatible chargers).
If fast charging/superfast charging features are disabled, your phone will charge at a standard rate, which is significantly slower.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Battery and Device Care.
- Select Battery.
- Select More Battery Settings.
- Toggle on Fast Charging and/or Superfast Charging.
Disable Battery Protection
Battery Protection feature limits charging to 85% to extend the battery’s lifespan by reducing stress and heat during charging.
Caution: Disabling this feature may slightly reduce the long-term health of your phone’s battery. Enable it again if you prioritize battery longevity over charging speed.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Battery and Device Care.
- Select Battery.
- Tap on More Battery Settings.
- Turn off the toggle for Protect Battery.
Charge in Safe Mode
Third-party apps can interfere with charging speed (specially when they use CPU power while running in background). Safe mode disables all third-party apps. This will allow you to determine if the issue is software-related.
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold the Power button until the Samsung logo appears.
- Release the Power button, then immediately press and hold the Volume Down button.
- Safe Mode will appear in the bottom-left corner if successful.
If fast charging works in Safe Mode, uninstall recently installed apps that might be causing the issue.
Do a Software Update
- Open Settings.
- Go to Software Update.
- Tap on Download and Install.
- Install any available updates.
Take Your Phone to a Samsung Service Center
If none of the above solutions work, your phone may have a hardware issue. It is common that a charging port is faulty or the battery is damaged.
Technicians will inspect your phone and repair or replace damaged components. Make sure to take proof of purchase for warranty claims, if applicable.
