Jumps Into
Switch to Default Samsung Keyboard
If you’re using a third-party keyboard, switching back to the default Samsung Keyboard may resolve the lag.
- Open the Settings app on your Galaxy S24.
- Tap General Management > Keyboard list and default.
- Select Samsung Keyboard as the default option.
Clear Keyboard App Cache
Note: Clearing keyboard app cache will not affect its settings or your personal data.
- Go to Settings > Apps.
- Tap Samsung Keyboard (or your active keyboard app).
- Select Storage > Clear Cache.
Clear Keyboard Data
Warning: Clearing Keyboard app data will reset its settings and remove stored words and usage patterns.
- Open Settings > Apps.
- Select Samsung Keyboard (or your active keyboard app).
- Tap Storage > Clear Data.
- Confirm by tapping OK.
Update Keyboard App
- Open the Galaxy Store or Google Play Store.
- Search for Samsung Keyboard.
- Tap Update (if an update is available).
Turn Off Other Keyboards
Having multiple active keyboards can cause conflicts. Try removing unused or third-party keyboards to check if the problem resolves.
- Open Settings > General Management > Keyboard list and default.
- Turn off any third-party keyboards.
Try the Keyboard in Safe Mode
Safe Mode disables third-party apps. Therefore it can be helpful to identify if they’re causing the lag when you use the keyboard.
- Turn off your Galaxy S24.
- Hold the Power button until the Samsung logo appears.
- Immediately press and hold the Volume Down button until the phone boots up.
- Check if the keyboard lags in Safe Mode.
If the keyboard works fine in Safe Mode:
- Uninstall recently installed apps that might conflict with the current keyboard app on your phone.
Steps to Exit Safe Mode:
- Restart your Galaxy S24 normally by holding the Power button and tapping Restart.
Perform a Software Update
Keyboard lag could be due to software bugs that updates often fix. Before updating your phone, make sure it has enough battery (at least 75%) and data (mobile data or Wi-Fi).
- Open Settings > Software Update.
- Tap Download and Install.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update your phone.
If none of the above steps cover your issue, try the following steps:
- Clear system cache:
- Turn off your phone.
- Plug the charger in.
- Press and hold the power button + volume up button to enter the recovery mode.
- Use the volume keys to select the “Wipe cache partition” option and press the power key.
- Confirm the selection.
- Once the process is completed, you will see the recovery menu again. Select “Reboot system now” and press the power key to exit recovery mode.
- Do a factory data reset (Warning: Factory data reset erases all your personal data. Take a backup before proceeding):
- Open Settings app.
- Go to General management.
- Tap on Reset.
- Select Factory data reset.
- Confirm.
