The new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has showcased impressive durability by successfully passing rigorous drop tests. Following its announcement at Unpacked in San Francisco, Samsung released a statement referencing tests conducted by Corning, which revealed that the device’s Gorilla Armor 2 material can withstand falls from heights of up to 2.2 meters (7.2 feet).

Independent YouTuber PBKreviews did a series of drop tests on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, dropping the device on concrete from various angles. The results indicated that the smartphone sustained minimal damage with the screen and back panel remaining in good condition after multiple drops. The phone’s new grade 5 titanium frame showed only minor scratches and dents.

In comparison to its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra suffered a small crack after a similar drop test last year. However, it is noted that the trade-off for this enhanced drop resistance comes from a decrease in scratch resistance, as Corning has dialed back the anti-scratch capabilities of Armor 2 compared to its original formulation.
