We all love our smartphones and rely on them for everyday tasks. But when it comes to calls, there is nothing worse than poor call quality that makes communication difficult. Unfortunately, that is what has happened to some Samsung Galaxy S22 users.

They have reported on the Samsung community that the quality of voice calls of their Galaxy S22 smartphones is very poor, putting them in an extremely frustrating state.

So, if your Galaxy S22 has been acting up lately or not delivering the audio call quality you expect from your device, apply the solutions below to get it fixed immediately!

Note: Solutions in this guide will work on any Samsung Galaxy S22 model (S22, S22 Plus, S22 Fe, and S22 Ultra models.)

Editor’s note: We created these instructions using a Samsung Galaxy S22 running Android 13. Depending on your device’s software version, some steps and menu positions may look slightly different.

Fix 01: Increase Call Volume

Are you sure the call volume is set to high when you are on a cellular call? If not, try increasing the call volume.

This will help to reduce any background noise and increase clarity during calls. When you are on a call, press and hold the volume up key and see if the audio quality improves as the volume goes high.

Fix 02: Clean the Microphone

It may be possible that the microphone hole of your Samsung S22 is blocked with dust particles. And if you are using the phone for a long time, this is more likely a cause of poor voice quality.

Switch off your device, and blow air into the mic hole. Do not use sharp tools to clean the microphone area, as they could break your device’s mic.

Once you are done cleaning, turn on the device, do a voice record, and see the audio quality of your voice. If it is clear, try to make a call and see if the issue is fixed.

Fix 03: Turn on High-Quality Calling (VoLTE Calling)

Do you know there is a way to boost the quality of your phone calls? This feature is called VoLTE, and it uses mobile data to stream voice calls, allowing you to make and receive calls with crisp sound.

Your Galaxy S22 comes with support for VoLTE calls. However, your service provider should also support VoLTE calls. Then, all you have to do is follow these steps here to enable the feature.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap on Connections.
  3. Tap on Mobile networks.
  4. Toggle on VoLTE for the selected SIM card.

Once you have enabled this feature, you will immediately see a difference in voice calls.

Fix 04: Wipe Cache Partition

When your device keeps running, the android system of your device builds a cache to increase its performance by storing repetitive processed data.

If this cache gets corrupted or outdated, this can cause audio call issues. To fix this, you can simply clear this cache from your device and allow it to rebuild it.

This is easier to do than this might sound. All you have to do is follow the steps below:

  1. Turn off your device
  2. Plug a USB cable into the device
  3. Press and hold the Power key + Volume up keys for a few seconds. When the recovery menu appears, release the keys
  4. Use the volume keys, highlight the Wipe cache partition, and press the power key.
Wipe cache partition
  1. On the confirmation prompt, select Yes and press the power key again.
Confirm wipe cache

Once the cache is cleared, you will see the recovery menu again. Use the volume keys, highlight the Reboot device now, and press the power key again to boot into normal mode.

Fix 05: Contact Your Network Provider

If you’re still experiencing poor sound quality in voice calls, then it would be good to contact your carrier and sort some things out.

First, you should make sure you get enough cellular signals to verify that the signal strength does not ruin the audio quality. Then, you should make sure nothing is wrong with your service provider’s end.

If there is nothing wrong with signals from the service provider’s end, then you can move on to the next solution.

Fix 06: Take Your Device to a Repair Center

There is nothing more you can do to fix the issue. Therefore, if the problem still persists, the best solution would be to take your device to a repair center.

Let an expert see what is wrong with your device and check whether is a hardware or a software issue. Then, they will fix it for you.

The repair center may also be able to provide you with parts that need replacing, such as faulty microphones or speakers.
