Samsung has rolled out January 2025 security update for the Galaxy S21 FE in the United States, expanding access to factory-unlocked models following its initial release for carrier-locked models earlier this week.
The update’s firmware version is G990U1UESEGXL5 and it addresses security vulnerabilities found in the previous software version.
A similar update is also being distributed in Puerto Rico as firmware version G990U1UESEGXL7.
Users of the Galaxy S21 FE can check for the update by navigating to:
- Settings
- Software update, and
- selecting “Download and install”.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is expected to receive the Android 15 update (One UI 7.0) in the coming months, followed by the Android 16 update (One UI 8.0) later in 2025.
