With new software updates, some Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones do not have the network mode option in Settings.
If you are having the same issue, follow the steps below. Here we can access the missing or greyed-out network mode using a third-party app called “Hidden settings”.
- Go to Google Play Store and search for “Hidden settings” (Direct link).
- Install the Hidden Settings app on your Galaxy S20.
- Open the App.
- Inside the app, search for “Mobile Network” and tap on the relevant search result.
- Now select “Preferred network type” and you will see the network modes.
If you have followed the steps above but still having issues accessing the network settings on your Samsung Galaxy S20, apply the following fixes I have mentioned below to resolve the issue.
If you bought your Samsung Galaxy S20 from a carrier, it could be network-locked. This means the carrier has locked access to change network provider and network mode options. You can verify this information by contacting the network provider.
Even if the phone is not network locked, there is still a chance that the current network provider doesn’t let you change network modes, therefore it is best to contact them and verify this information before drawing any conclusions.
In case Samsung releases a future update to bring back the missing network mode, you can keep your Galaxy S20 updated. To check for a software update, follow the steps below:
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down and tap on “Battery and device care”.
- Select “Software update” from the bottom.
- Tap on “Download and install” to check for a new update.
