Samsung Releases January Security Update for Galaxy A Models in the US
Samsung has released a new software updates for several mid-range Galaxy A smartphones in the United States, just before the end of January 2025. The updates include the January 2025 security patch and are available for the Galaxy A23 5G, Galaxy A32 5G, Galaxy A35 5G, and Galaxy A53 5G.
The update build numbers are:
- A236USQS9EYA1 for the Galaxy A23,
- A326U1UESHDXL1 for the A32,
- A356U1UES4AYA1 for the A35, and
- A536U1UESCEYA3 for the A53.
Most of these devices were launched three or more years ago but continue to receive monthly or quarterly security updates.
The January security patch addresses a total of 51 vulnerabilities; 29 that impact the core Android operating system and 22 specific to Samsung devices, known as Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE).
The updates are primarily available for unlocked units, with carrier-locked variants expected to follow shortly. Users can download the updates by navigating to:
- Settings menu
- Software update, and
- Tapping Download and install.
The Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A53 are set to receive the One UI 7 update (based on Android 15), in the coming months. However, the Galaxy A23 and A32 will not receive any further major operating system upgrades.
