Samsung has rolled out of its January 2025 security update for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The update addresses various security vulnerabilities and is currently available for carrier-unlocked models in the United States (model numbers SM-N981U1 and SM-N986U1).

The firmware versions for this update are N981U1UESBHXL1 and N986U1UESBHXL1. Users of these devices will receive a notification to download the new firmware directly on their phones. If the notification does not appear, users can manually check for the update by navigating to:

  1. Settings.
  2. Software update.
  3. Download and install.

Samsung is expected to extend this security patch to additional variants of the Galaxy Note 20 in the coming days.
