Samsung to Provide Extended Software Support for Non-Flagship Galaxy Phones in 2025
Samsung is ready to unveil its latest flagship smartphone lineup, the Galaxy S25. Following this, the company plans to launch a series of mid-range and budget smartphones throughout the year, alongside additional flagship models such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
One big update on the horizon is the promise of extended software support for many Galaxy devices launched in 2025. In 2024, Samsung offers 7 major OS updates for flagship models and now Samsung is expected to extend a similar commitment to its mid-range and budget devices. The Galaxy A16, priced under $250, has already been confirmed to receive 6 years of major OS and security updates.
While specific details regarding which non-flagship devices will benefit from this extended support have yet to be confirmed by Samsung, Models like the Galaxy A56 may also receive similar long-term software updates. Furthermore, some enterprise editions of Galaxy tablets may receive up to 8 years of updates.
