No More Monthly Updates for Galaxy S21 Series
Samsung has announced a shift in the update schedule for its Galaxy S21 series, which includes the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra. As of February 2025, these devices will receive security updates on a quarterly basis, down from their previous monthly updates that have been provided since their launch in January 2021.
Moving forward, users of the original Galaxy S21 can expect security updates every three months for at least the next year. In contrast, the Galaxy S21 FE will continue to receive monthly update (because it is a later market launch).
Additionally, the Galaxy S21 lineup will receive its final major Android OS upgrade, Android 15, in the coming weeks. Comparatively, the Galaxy S24 FE will receive Android 16 as its last major update.
For those considering upgrading their devices, Samsung is plans to release the Galaxy S25 series on February 7, which promises seven years of OS and security updates.
Users upgrading from the Galaxy S21 Ultra to the Galaxy S25 Ultra can expect similarities in design, with the S25 Ultra featuring rounded corners for a more comfortable grip.
