Samsung is gearing up to release the second beta update for One UI 7.0 and the initial rollout will be for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in select regions (Samsung Galaxy S23 series may need to wait longer to get the update). The beta program, which began a week ago gave users early access to the latest features and improvements in Samsung’s custom Android interface.

The first beta introduced the following features to the Galaxy smartphones:

New Features in One UI 7.0 Beta

  • Improved Widgets: The stock Samsung widgets have been redesigned.
  • Enhanced Quick Share: Internet-based sharing capabilities have been added.
  • Galaxy Buds Integration: Media player widgets now allow direct controls for Galaxy Buds.
  • Modes and Routines Upgrades: Samsung’s automation tools: modes and routines now offers users more customization.
  • Cloud Archiving Support: One UI 7.0 supports cloud-based archiving.
  • Camera Enhancements: New zoom levels from the Camera Assistant app are now integrated into the default Camera app.

The One UI 7.0 beta also introduces a mix of experimental changes, such as a “Secured by Knox” watermark in the app drawer (Samsung has confirmed this will be removed in the Alpha release), the lock screen widgets carousel has been removed (and will be discontinued), and AR Emoji has is now called “Galaxy Avatar”.

Samsung also acknowledged that animations in the first beta need improvement and plans to address this in upcoming builds. Also, U.S. users can test a new Call Transcripts feature for voice call recording.
