Many Samsung Galaxy S21 users have reported issues with their Facebook app. According to them, these problems are the app crashing while in use, not opening at all, or simply not functioning as expected.

If you’re experiencing any of these issues when you’re trying to use Facebook on your Galaxy S21, it could be a bug in the app/device or insufficient memory or storage space.

But don’t worry, by following this guide, you’ll be able to diagnose and fix the problem quickly and easily. Let’s get started!

Note: Solutions in this guide will work on any Samsung Galaxy S21 model (S21, S21 Plus, S21 Fe, and S21 Ultra models.)

Editor’s note: We created these instructions using a Samsung Galaxy S21 running Android 12. Depending on your device’s software version, some steps and menu positions may look slightly different.

Fix 01: Restart the App

This is the simplest solution to fix the Facebook app issue on your Samsung Galaxy S21. This is because sometimes, the app may not load correctly, or it is also possible that there is a minor glitch causing the problem.

Restarting the app will refresh the app’s operations and eliminate any temporary issues that cause the app to malfunction and crash.

Here’s how to force stop (and restart) the Facebook app:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Apps.
  3. Tap on Facebook.

Then, re-open the Facebook app.

Fix 02: Restart the Device

If restarting the app didn’t work, you can restart your Galaxy S21. This helps to clear out the device’s RAM without losing any data. It also closes any background apps that may be causing the Facebook app to malfunction or crash.

To restart your Samsung Galaxy S21:

  1. Press and hold the power key and volume down key together until you get the power menu.

  1. Tap on the restart button.

  1. Confirm by tapping on the restarting button again.

Once your device has restarted, open the Facebook app again to see if the problem has been resolved.

Fix 03: Check the Available RAM and Storage

The performance of your device and the apps running on it is significantly affected by the amount of free RAM and storage space available on your device. If your device’s RAM or storage is nearly full, it can cause apps like Facebook to crash or not work properly.

Here’s how to check the available RAM and storage on your Samsung Galaxy S21:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Battery and device care.
Device care storage section
  1. Here, you’ll see the status of your battery, storage, and memory (RAM).

If you see that the available RAM is low, you can try closing some apps that are running in the background.

Likewise, if your storage is nearly full, you need to delete some unnecessary files or apps. Also, in the Storage area, you can see what’s taking up space on your device and choose to delete unnecessary data.

Once you have done this, open Facebook app and see if the problem is resolved.

Fix 04: Clear Facebook App Data

The Facebook app won’t work or crash due to the accumulation of cache over time. This cache includes temporary files, cookies, and other junk files that could slow down the app or even cause it to malfunction. Clearing these files will work to resolve the issue.

But before proceeding, it’s important to note that clearing the app data will log you out of your Facebook account on the device. Therefore, make sure you have your login details to sign back in.

Here are the steps to clear Facebook app data:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Apps.
  3. Select Facebook.

After you’ve cleared the Facebook app data, launch the app again, and log in.

Fix 05: Reinstall Facebook

If Facebook is not working on your Galaxy S21 because of a more complex problem, uninstalling and then reinstalling the app will fix the issue.

When you reinstall the app, you’re downloading a fresh copy from the Play Store, which should be free of any issues that were present in the old version.

However, before you proceed with this step, it’s important to note that uninstalling the Facebook app will remove all your app data. This includes your login information, so make sure you have your Facebook username and password to log back in after reinstalling the app.

Reinstall the Facebook app on your Samsung Galaxy S21:

  1. Go to Play Store and search for “Facebook”.
  2. From the results, select Facebook.
