What Do You Mean By Hotspot Not Working?

Before getting to the solutions, we need you to know 2 things.

The mobile hotspot is a feature that allows you to connect other devices to the internet using your device as a wireless router. So when it is not working, it means two things:

  1. You cannot connect the other device (let’s say a laptop) to your mobile hotspot
  2. You can connect your other device to your mobile hotspot but it shows an error such as No internet, or Not connected to the internet.

These two scenarios are completely different, and that is why we need you to follow the solutions only for the situation you are in.

So, if you cannot connect a device to the mobile hotspot on your Samsung Galaxy S22, apply FIX 1, FIX 3, FIX 4, FIX 6, FIX 7, and FIX 8.

But if you can connect to the hotspot but there is no internet, then apply FIX 1, FIX 2, FIX, 5, FIX 6, and FIX 8.

Fix 01: Restart Your Device And Turn on Hotspot Again

Restart device

Restarting your device will reset any settings or connections that may have been causing problems.

To restart your device, simply power it off and wait for a few seconds (10 seconds) before powering it on.

Once your device is powered back on, you can turn on your mobile hotspot. This will allow you to connect to your device without any issues.

Fix 02: Check Your Internet Connection

Poor or no internet connection is one of the most common reasons why your device fails to share its internet connection via the mobile hotspot.

Therefore, it’s important to check your internet connection if you are getting ‘no internet’, or ‘not connected to the internet’ errors while using the feature.

Test your connection and speed by running a speed test. You can use an online tool like fast.com or ookla.com for this.

This will allow you to determine if your connection is running slow or not. If it is slow, then you need to try switching the networks or checking the network coverage in your area.

Fix 03: Change Hotspot Mode to Open

Changing your hotspot mode to open will allow other devices to connect to the hotspots faster.

But make sure to keep an eye on your data usage, as Open mode can consume a lot of mobile data.

To change the hotspot mode, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap on Connection.
  3. Then, tap on Mobile hotspot and tethering.

Fix 04: Turn Off Power Saving Mode

When your device is in power-saving mode, it will often close power-consuming processes. Because of that, you shouldn’t use power-saving mode when using mobile hotspot.

If you have enabled power saving mode, then turn it off. This will ensure that your device is receiving the maximum amount of data and keeping up the connection without any disruptions.

  1. Swipe down the notification bar.
  2. Tap on the power saving mode icon to turn if off.

Note: Once you have turned off the power-saving mode, you may notice an increase in your device’s data usage. This is because power saving mode limits the amount of data your device can receive.

Fix 05: Turn Off Data Saver

Just like the power saving mode, the data server will disable any background process using mobile data. This can result in slower speeds, reduced connection quality, and other issues that can affect your experience.

Therefore, if you have turned on the data saver on your Galaxy S22, then turn it off.

Once the data saver is turned off, you should be able to notice an improvement in speed and connection quality.

Fix 06: Reset All Settings

If any change you have previously made to the hotspot settings is the reason why the mobile hotspot is not working properly, then doing this will reset all those settings to their default values and fix the underlying problem.

To reset all settings, go to your device’s Settings menu, then follow the steps below:

  1. Head over to Settings.
  2. Go to General management.
  3. Tap on Reset.

  1. Tap on Reset all settings.

  1. Confirm.

After you have reset all settings, restart your Galaxy S22 and see if the hotspot works without any issues.

Fix 07: Do a Software Update

If resetting all settings didn’t work, it’s time to try a software update. Updating your Samsung Galaxy S22’s software can help fix any bugs or glitches that may be causing your mobile hotspot to not work.

To check for any software updates, follow the steps below:

  1. Head over to Settings.
  2. Tap on Battery and device care.
  3. Tap on Software update.

Your phone will then check for any available updates. If there are any, you’ll be prompted to download and install them.

Once the updates are installed, restart your phone and try using the mobile hotspot again.

Fix 08: Try USB Tethering (Alternative)

If you are still having issues with the mobile hotspot feature, then we recommend you try an alternative solution, which is USB tethering

USB tethering is a great way to connect your phone to other devices and share your internet connection. The only downside is to use USB tethering, you’ll need to connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable, and this will only work for desktop and laptop PCs.

But if that is okay with you, then you won’t need a mobile hotspot to get things done. Plug the USB cable to the computer/laptop, then tap on the access menu. Then, select USB tethering.
