There have been a lot of lagging and stuttering issues with our favorite Snapchat app on Samsung Galaxy S22 devices. Although the S22 Ultra model is more likely to show these issues, the other models (S22, S22 Plus, & S22 Fe) also have been reported several times on community forums by their users.
According to Galaxy S22 users, Snapchat lagging and stuttering issues occur when opening the app, recording videos, loading the snapmap, using bitmoji, and when tapping the back/home button.
Maybe what you are facing right now is in the above list, and you may have even taken several troubleshooting steps but failed to get rid of the extreme lagging on Snapchat.
But in this guide, we will show you the real solutions to fix the Snapchat lag on Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
First, let’s see what causes Snapchat to lag on your Galaxy smartphone.
Note: This guide also applies to Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Fe models, as well as Snapdragon and Exynos versions.

Why Snapchat lags on Samsung S22 Ultra (and on other models)
After experiencing such lagging issues, you may be wondering if Snapchat is even optimized for the Galaxy S22 series. Although there isn’t much information to be found on Snapchat’s official website, we can clearly say it should be optimized for such a high-end device as Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Then why does Snapchat lag on your smartphone? To answer that question, here is a list of possible causes of why Snap becomes unresponsive (lag) on your smartphone.
- A faulty recent system update or an app update
- Corrupted or outdated app caching
- Connection issues
- Insufficient RAM and storage
There can be one or a few reasons for your case. But that doesn’t mean you have to take a lot of steps to fix it. Below, we have given eight (8) solutions that should work for any cause. Try one solution at a time and test the app before going to the next one.
Let’s start troubleshooting.
How to fix the Samsung S22 Ultra Snapchat lag
Here are the solutions that you are going to try;
- Restarting the device
- Update the Snapchat app
- Clear Snap chat app cache and data
- Optimize memory usage
- Update the android system
- Reinstall the Snapchat
- Clear system cache
Restart the device
Temporary glitches are more prominent when it comes to any android device. For such issues, restarting is the best fix you can do.
You can restart your Samsung S22 as you normally do. However, you can also use this method;
- Press and hold the power + volume down buttons until your device starts to turn off.
Update the Snapchat app
App updates bring various bug fixes and stability improvements. If there is a bug within the Snapchat app that causes it to lag, installing an update would fix the problem.
To update the Snapchat app, follow the steps below;
- Open Google Play Store
- Tap on the profile icon at the top right corner
- Tap on “Manage apps and device”
- Tap on the “Manage” tab on the window
- Now, tap on the “Updates available” button to filter out apps that have updates to be installed
- See if Snapchat is listed there. If so, tap on it
- Tap on the Update button to install the update
After you update Snapchat, open it and see if the lag still persists. If it still lags or stutters when you use it, maybe it is because of corrupted/outdated cache files. Move to the next solution to clear the cache of Snapchat.
Clear the app cache
Even if there wasn’t any update for Snapchat, as mentioned in the above solution, you should clear the cache of Snapchat to remove if there are any outdated or corrupted cache files in the app cache folder.
Clearing the cache won’t affect any of your personal data. Therefore it is a safe solution. If you don’t know how to clear the cache, here is how;
- Open Settings on your Galaxy S22 Ultra
- Tap on Apps
- Scroll down and find the Snapchat app. Then tap on it.
- First, stop the app from running by tapping the “Force stop” button
- Then, tap on “Storage” or “Manage storage”
- Tap on “Clear cache” to delete cache files from the Snapchat cache folder
Check and optimize RAM usage
Samsung S22 and S22 Ultra have a large portion of RAM for system services and third-party apps (8 GB & 12 GB). However, depending on the number of apps installed and running in the background, the available RAM for new opening apps might not be enough.
Snapchat uses a lot of RAM. Therefore, you should make sure your Galaxy S22/S22 Ultra has enough available RAM to open and use the app (Especially when making a snap/recording video)
First, check for available RAM. You can use the device care app for this purpose.
- Open the Device care app
- Tap on Memory
- You can see the available RAM in the current state. If it is below 1 GB, tap on Clean now button
- Also, you can see which apps heavily use the RAM. Then you can tap on each app and stop them from running.
Perform a software update
Some users have reported that Snapchat lagging issues started after installing a software update. Since Samsung releases system updates frequently (check our Samsung software update tracker for Galaxy S22), you can check for a new update and install it.
To check and install a software update, follow these steps;
- Open Settings
- Tap on Software update
- Tap on “Download and Install”
As soon as you tap on that option, the system will start looking for a new update. You will be notified If there is any update available to download.
Clear system cache
The Android OS maintains a system cache to store data that is being generated by repetitive tasks. When you perform a system update, it is generally considered a good practice to clear the system cache (also known as the cache partition)
Note: Clearing the system cache have little impact on fixing issues since new android versions use a different caching mechanism.
To clear the system cache, follow the steps below;
- Turn off your device
- Plug the USB cable into your device and a power source like a charger, a laptop, etc.
- Press and hold the power down button for several seconds. Your device will boot into Recovery mode.
- Use volume buttons and highlight the “Wipe cache partition.” Then press the power button
- Confirm the wipe cache partition
- Once clearing the cache is done, you will see the recovery menu again. Highlight “Reboot device now,” and press the power button to restart the device
Reinstall the Snapchat app
If you still see lags and stutters on Snapchat, you can either clear the app data or just re-install the app.
Clearing the app data is a bit similar to reinstalling the app; you will have to log into your account again anyway. So let’s re-install the app for better results.
- Open Google Play Store
- Tap on the search bar and type “Snapchat”
- From the results, tap on Snapchat and then tap on the Uninstall button
- Once the app is uninstalled, tap on the Install button to re-install the app
Conclusion
The last resort to this issue would be doing a factory data reset. However, we do not think it is worth doing. Because if you are going to factory data reset your Galaxy S22/S22 Ultra, you have to take a backup first and even restore it once the reset is completed.
If you really want to do that, you can boot your device into recovery mode again, as you did when clearing the system cache. Then, you have to highlight the “Factory data reset” and confirm it.
