Fix 01: Restart the Device

Restart device

One of the most basic and often effective troubleshooting steps to fix the DND mode is power cycling your Galaxy S23.

This action will help reset any glitches or unresponsive programs that may have caused the do not disturb mode to malfunction, as well as clear some memory caches which can help resolve certain issues.

  1. Press and hold the power key and volume down key together until the device starts to turn off.

Once you have restarted your device, turn on do not disturb mode and see if it works.

Fix 02: Check Do Not Disturb Settings and Remove any Allowed Apps

The second fix requires you to check the Do Not Disturb settings and remove any apps that have been whitelisted.

It is because if this option is turned on and there are apps listed there, you will still receive notifications and other alerts while on DND mode.

So removing them will ensure that notifications from that app will be blocked when the Do Not Disturb mode is active on your device.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Notifications.
  3. Then, select Do Not Disturb.
  4. Tap on App Notifications

Resetting app preferences will reset defaults and other settings that may cause the do not disturb mode not to work. And once you reset app preferences, you can set up defaults again after each file/link opens as you use the device. So this won’t be a big issue as it can save you time from applying other solutions.

To reset app preferences:

  1. Open Settings and go to Apps.
  2. Tap on the three dots at the top right corner.
  3. Select Reset app preferences.
