T-Mobile Expands Starlink Beta Access to All Galaxy Phone Users
T-Mobile has announced the expansion of its Starlink beta service to all smartphone users, including those on Verizon and AT&T networks. Previously limited to T-Mobile subscribers, the service is now available for free to anyone with a compatible smartphone, including most Samsung Galaxy models released in the past four years.
The Starlink service uses T-Mobile’s satellite network to provide cell coverage over 500,000 square miles in the United States in areas lacking cell tower service. Users can easily sign up for the beta through T-Mobile’s website, regardless of their carrier. The Galaxy S21 Ultra was previously used to test the Starlink service.
Once connected to the Starlink network, users can send and receive text messages, including group texts and reactions, without any charges. However, the service currently does not support photo sharing, voice calls, or data usage, although these features are expected to be added in the future.
The Starlink beta is being offered as a trial until July 2025. After the trial period, Verizon and AT&T customers will pay $20 per month for access, while T-Mobile subscribers on the Go5G Next plan will continue to enjoy free access. Other T-Mobile plan holders can add the service for $15 per month.
The service automatically connects to the Starlink network when users are out of conventional cell tower range, making it particularly beneficial for those in remote areas with limited coverage. However, it may be less advantageous for individuals residing in urban areas where cell service is readily available.
