Samsung Galaxy phone users in the United States can now bypass restrictions from the Google Play Store by downloading the TikTok directly from the app’s official website .

Following the recent removal of TikTok from the Google Play Store due to a U.S. ban, the app is now accessible for direct download. This option allows users to sideload the app.

Sideloading apps can pose security risks. However, it is a common method for companies to provide access to their apps directly when app stores are unavailable. Newer Samsung models have this feature disabled by default. Therefore, users need to make sure their device settings allow sideloading.

Steps to allow sideloading:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Apps.
  3. Tap the three-dotted menu icon on the top right corner.
  4. Tap on “Special access”.
  5. Tap on “Install unknown apps”.
  6. Select the unknown app (in this case, it is the web browser you used to download the app), then tap the “Allow from this source” to turn on sideloading.

Despite an executive order to reindex TikTok to Play Store, the app has not yet returned to it. This leaves Android users with a viable alternative, while iOS users currently have no option but to wait for an official restoration.
