Vivo is preparing to enter the mixed reality (MR) market with the development of a new headset, positioning itself as a competitor to Samsung’s recently announced XR headset known as Project Moohan.

The announcement was made during a recent event, where Vivo revealed plans to showcase a prototype of its MR device in September 2025 with a full launch expected by the end of the year.

This upcoming headset aims to challenge established products like Apple’s Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3. Vivo expressed confidence that its device will outperform Apple’s Vision Pro. The company is reportedly investing this project with over 500 employees to its development.

If Vivo can offer features comparable to those of the Apple Vision Pro at a lower cost, it could make MR technology more appealing to a broader audience and shifting it from a niche market to mainstream consumer adoption.

While Samsung’s XR headset will also compete with Vivo’s upcoming MR headset, it has already gained attention. Samsung’s XR will be part of the upcoming CES 2025 event, where further details about Project Moohan are revealed.
